Questions and answers about Loft Insulation

  • My loft is already insulated - Why should I have it insulated/checked?
Most lofts currently only have a maximum of 4" (100mm) of insulation. The new government recommended standard is 11" (270mm). This creates a much greater barrier and dramatically reduces heat loss through the roof
  • How much heat does it save?
25% of heat is lost through poorly insulated roofs
  • How much will it cost me?
It depends upon whether you are in receipt of qualifying benefits - If so you will get a 100% grant, even if not you could still get over 60% grant.
  • Do I have to apply for the grant myself?
No – there are no application forms or means testing. All homeowners qualify
